Cat, its a Kitty Cat!

I went to a shindig last night, at this shindig they handed out paper moustaches which makes me think... wouldn't the world simply be a better place if more things had a comical moustache. Also Cats, they entertain us all don't they? So I leave you with a couple of images to inspire you to pursue a catier moustachier world! :D

Total Fiction

So I know I already posted today but I just finished another assignment for Writing for Advertising class. The point was to make a funny add for a product real or not. So I made a totally nonsensical ad which I hope would catch attention in a magazine for a made up and slightly illegal energy drink :D ENJOY!

Kinetic Type Frustration

So recently my Flash class was tasked to create a kinetic Type movie using Flash CS4. I'm no pro in flash but I was able to pull something together which I'm not ashamed of. It indeed has its charms. Although the process was slightly frustrating, finding the exact moment to place each word can be trying to say the least. In the end I created something decent and here it is :)


Also I would like to share this lovely animation of a dancing bear... why? Because it relieves the frustration I sometimes incur from school.

Illustrations where its at

Also in honor of cartooning I would like to post what was one of my first attempts at hand drawn to computer illustrative work.
This was first just a regular sketch then I converted the outline in illustrator and proceeded to colour it in photoshop. Its a bit crude but hey pretty good for a first try.

Its raining colour

So probably a lot of you have tried doing some watercolour work at some point. My program has a few classes which require watercolour paintings.

This first one I have here is one that I did in water colour pencil crayon for Colour Theory class to put on a christmas card.

The second is a self portrait that I did for class in my second year. It is done with regular water colour paint and I managed a 100% grade on it.

So what would happen if the movie Dune was about man sized sharks living under the sand instead of giant worms, well you would have to keep a close eye on your kids in the sandbox now wouldn't you...

Beer beer beer bottle a beer

In my second year of college the class was tasked to come up with a unique beer brand. Now I dont know if you have heard of Shad Flies, but around here everyone knows what they are. If you don't know what they are I suggest you check out this site http://www.shadfly.com/story.html. Long story short, they are like Mayflies which hatch from our lake in hoards for a week or two each summer and coat the downtown area.

So as a theme for my beer I developed the brand "Ol' Shaddy the gentlemens brew". Using The Great Wave for refference and some handy live tracing of a photo of a real shadfly I created what I would consider quite an interesting take on a local beer. It may sound a little gross but hey at least its interesting! ;)

Learning to Flash

So the class is working on learning Flash, I did a bit of Flashing around back in high school but really Ive never been too savvy at it. We are starting on making an e-card, I chose to make a valentines day one.

Fuzzy Coffee Logic

So some time last year the class was tasked to come up with a "Fuzzy Logic" to go with a saying. I chose a line from my favorite song "Someone who's cool- The Odds"

The line I chose obviously was "I'm the coffee, not the sleep."

This was done in illustrator as a vector based image.

A brand new blog

Well hello there everyone, I have started this blog as a project for school. Im in my last semester of college for graphic design and would like to show off what I have accomplished so far. Hope you find something of interest and like what you see :D
